Email files to Box
Sign in with Box and you get an email address that files attachments into your Box. Clients, colleagues and scanners send to it; the files appear in Box, ready to share.
Start on the basic plan: up to 100 attachments a month, in emails up to 5 MB. Premium is $2.99 a month, with no limits.
How to set it up
Sign in with Box
Use the Box account the files should go to, and allow Email It In to add files to it. Your address is ready straight away.
Files go to the "Email It In" folder
Email It In files into a folder called "Email It In" under All Files, and makes it if it is not there. With Premium you can name another folder.
Share the address
Give it to the people who send you documents, or set it as a scanner destination.
Folders in Box
Folder names in Box are not case sensitive. If you already have a folder called "email it in", Email It In uses it instead of making a second one. The same goes for tag folders and subject folders.
With Premium you can file into any folder path, such as Clients/Signed contracts. Missing folders are created on the way.
Large files and versions
Box needs large files sent in parts. Email It In does this for every file over 50 MB, so Premium can file big drawings or videos as well as PDFs.
- Keep both: a second "report.pdf" is saved as "report (1).pdf".
- Replace (Premium): the new file is saved as a new version of the existing one, instead of a second file.
Questions about Box
Which Box folder do my attachments go to?
A folder called "Email It In" under All Files, unless you choose another folder in your account settings (Premium).
I already have a folder with that name. Will I get a duplicate?
No. Box folder names are not case sensitive, and Email It In uses the folder that is already there.
What happens when someone sends a file with a name that already exists?
By default both files are kept: the new one gets a number added to its name. With Premium you can choose to replace instead: the new file is saved as a new version of the existing one.
Why did I get an email asking me to reconnect Box?
Box no longer accepts the connection Email It In had, for example because access was removed in your Box settings. Mail sent to your address bounces until you sign in with Box again. Your address and settings stay the same.
