How a renovation crew files job photos from the site

Dana runs a small renovation company with three crews. Every job needs before and after photos, and every supplier sends invoices. The photos lived on four people's phones, and the invoices in Dana's inbox.

She tried a shared photo app, but half the crew never opened it. Everyone already knows how to email a photo, though.

So each job gets a tagged address. For the Smith kitchen, the crew emails photos to dana27finch+smithkitchen@emailitin.com, and a routing rule files them in Jobs/Smith kitchen in Dropbox. Suppliers' invoices for the job go to the same address.

Nobody installs anything. The crew takes photos as usual and emails them from the site, and they are in the job folder in seconds, where Dana and the office can see them. Full-size photos are fine: the paid plans have no email size limit.

When the job is done, Dana sends the client a link to the folder: before, during and after, all in one place.

The people in this story are made up. Everything they do with Email It In works today.

Set it up the same way

  1. Sign in with the storage your office uses: Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, SharePoint, Box or Egnyte.
  2. For each new job, add a routing rule: a tag, like smithkitchen, and the job's folder.
  3. Send the crew and suppliers the job's address. Photos and invoices land in the job folder.

Routing rules come with every paid plan. A busy month of photos and invoices can pass 200 files, so the Pro plan ($15 a month for up to 2,000 files) is the safe choice; quieter companies start on Personal ($5 a month for up to 200). See pricing.

Get your address: it takes about a minute.
